Today is a happy day for me. I was given permission to observe a cesarean surgery by Dr Nagara. I felt like i am in Grey's Anatomy. At first I change into OT dress. They are a pair of trousers and a top in blue color. Then i put on the OT cap and mask. I actually wanna take a photo of myself in the OT outfit but they said it is confidential, so no photo taking is allowed. But then, i get myself some souvenirs, the cap and the mask. Actually those are disposable. Who cares, this is my first time in OT with a real surgery going on and i love it! Although i was asked to stand at a corner and not to touch anything in GREEN color because green means sterilized and my hands were not sterilized. I was told no need to scrub-up.
I always thought that you just need to be stitched once in a surgery. I was wrong! At least 3 stitches are needed. First the uterus, then the fat and muscle layers, and finally the skin layer. No wonder after so many years of surgery, one will still feel the pain due to adhesions. That is why, surgery is the last resort in any situation. Doctors don't simply do surgeries. I think i will have normal vagina delivery in the future if everything goes smooth. hehe..I don't want my lower abdomen to be cut open for no reason, with the doctor pulling and stretching my skin.
Oh, did i mention that the mother on c-section was actually sedated only? and not under GA? Imagine, you are paralyzed half body from the waist and hearing the doctors operating and burning your body at the same time. Urghh...
(PS: I actually wanna cut and paste my face to replace Sandra Oh's face, but i don't know how to do it. F**k!)
